Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California Launches Ads in SD 35 and AD 57 Alongside Labor Allies Opposing Candidates Beholden to Big Oil

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California (CSHC), which recently announced a partnership with organized labor and Opportunity PAC, today announced the launch of a new advertising campaign in State Senate District 35 and Assembly District 57. The ads highlight the dangerous influence of Big Oil’s hand-picked candidates whose records show they take tens of thousands of dollars from the oil industry and cannot be counted on to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of Californians.

The campaign is committed to revealing the consequences of electing officials tied to corporate oil interests and supporting those who stand up to Big Oil.

CSHC and Allies in Organized Labor are supporting: Michelle Chambers (SD 35) and Sade Elhawary (AD 57).

CSHC and Allies in Organized Labor are opposing candidates who have sold out to Big Oil: Laura Richardson and Efren Martinez.

“Californians are demanding leaders who will stand up to Big Oil and fight for clean air, clean water, and a sustainable future,” said Darryl Molina Sarmiento, CSHC Steering Committee Member and Executive Director of Communities for a Better Environment. “We cannot afford to elect candidates who put the profits of oil companies over the well-being of our communities. We won’t allow Big Oil to use their greed to influence our democracy while polluting our communities and destroying our health.”

“Big Oil has spent millions to back candidates who will allow them to continue polluting our communities without consequence,” said Tia Orr, Executive Director of SEIU California. “SEIU members and our allies in working communities throughout California are sick and tired of politicians who fail to protect our neighborhoods. We will expose these candidates and ensure voters have a clear choice: leaders who will fight for clean energy and healthy communities or those who will do the oil lobby’s dirty work.”

Here are the ads in SD 35:

‘Near’

‘Not Polluters’

Here are the ads in AD 57:

‘Shady’

‘Backyard’

‘Patio’

‘Sospechoso’
